Bulgaria, Plovdiv

Plovdiv, or ancient Philippopolis, was a city in the Roman Empire during the 1st centuries AD. Thracians, Macedonians, Greeks, and Roman veterans lived there. Under Hadrian, significant construction took place (117-138 AD).
